12th Annual Amble
The 12 Annual Amble took place on September 23rd, 2017 at The Family Centre, We were pleased to welcome participants from our members and community, and to gather together at an inclusive event to celebrate the work of Planned Lifetime Networks.
The day was hot, humid, and sunny, but everyone gamely put on their sunscreen to prepare for the walk. We gathered as a group at the registration desk, and headed outside to hear some words from our local politicians and representatives. Joining us were Marwan Tabbara (MP for Kitchener South-Hespeler), Daiene Vernile (MPP for Kitchener Centre), Ken Seiling (Regional Chair), and Angela Vieth (City of Waterloo Councilor for ward 3). Each took a moment to encourage us in our work and speak to the importance of inclusive community in battling isolation.
Even though the temperatures were getting close to 30 degrees, we set out for the Amble and took the opportunity to work up a sweat! Participants walked out to the nearby high school and circled it before heading back to The Family Centre.
With activities from visiting with firefighters and their firetruck to facepainting and music, everyone had a chance for some fun. The event wrapped up with our classic BBQ and door prizes.
We are so grateful to our community for their support and a special thank you goes to the volunteers who made it all possible. From planning to set up, to running activities to taking it all down after, we could not have done it without you!
